These Terms of Service, together with our Privacy Policy and any other terms shown in the Sestra mobile application, govern your access to and use of Sestra. By creating an account, downloading the app, purchasing a subscription, or using Sestra, you agree to these Terms.
If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use Sestra.
Sestra is a women's health and wellness mobile application operated by Sestra LLC. Sestra provides tools for menstrual cycle tracking, symptom logging, medication reminders, AI-powered wellness chat, reproductive health education, profile customization, prevention health tracking, and optional nearby health practitioner search.
Sestra is currently available for iOS only through Apple's App Store. Sestra is a digital wellness app designed to help you organize and understand health-related information. It is not a doctor, clinic, emergency service, or medical device.
You must be at least 13 years old to use Sestra. If you are under 18, you may use Sestra only with the consent and supervision of a parent or legal guardian.
You agree to provide accurate account information and to keep your account information current. You may create and use only one account for yourself. Sestra may allow sign-in through email and password, Sign in with Apple, or Sign in with Google. Your use of those sign-in methods may also be subject to the terms and privacy practices of Apple or Google.
You are responsible for keeping your login credentials confidential and for all activity under your account.
IMPORTANT HEALTH DISCLAIMER: Sestra is an educational and wellness tool only. Sestra is not a medical device, clinical service, healthcare provider, fertility service, contraception tool, diagnostic tool, treatment platform, or substitute for professional medical advice.
Sestra does not diagnose, treat, prevent, or cure any disease, condition, pregnancy-related issue, fertility issue, menstrual disorder, mental health condition, or medical emergency.
Cycle predictions, phase estimates, period reminders, fertility-related information, symptom trends, medication reminders, AI chat responses, and educational content are based on user-entered data, statistical estimates, general wellness information, and automated processing. They may be incomplete, inaccurate, delayed, or unsuitable for your personal circumstances.
Do not rely on Sestra for contraception, pregnancy prevention, fertility planning, diagnosis, treatment decisions, medication decisions, emergency decisions, or decisions requiring a licensed medical professional.
If you have health concerns, unusual symptoms, severe pain, heavy bleeding, pregnancy concerns, medication questions, reproductive health concerns, mental health concerns, or any urgent medical issue, contact a licensed healthcare professional or emergency services.
Sestra LLC expressly disclaims liability for health decisions made based on app content, predictions, reminders, AI responses, or educational materials. Sestra is not approved, cleared, certified, or regulated by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration or any other medical regulatory body.
Sestra may include menstrual cycle tracking and phase prediction; daily health check-in logging, including flow, symptoms, mood, and energy; medication management and local push notification reminders; period and cycle reminder notifications; AI-powered health chat assistant; women's health educational content, including articles and videos; optional nearby health practitioner search, which may require location permission; prevention health tracking, including screening date logging; and profile customization, including avatar and app persona features.
Certain features may require a Premium subscription. AI chat, medication notification features, unlimited history, and some educational content may be available only to Premium users. Sestra LLC may change, add, suspend, restrict, or remove features from time to time. When changes are material, Sestra LLC will provide reasonable notice through the app, email, App Store release notes, or another appropriate method.
Sestra may offer a Free tier and a Premium tier. The Free tier may include limited access to basic cycle tracking, limited history, and other basic features. The Free tier may exclude medication notifications, AI chat, unlimited history, and some content.
The Premium tier may include full access to supported features, including unlimited history, medication reminders, AI chat, and all available content, subject to technical availability and these Terms. Premium is offered as an auto-renewing monthly subscription through Apple In-App Purchase.
Subscription pricing is shown on the App Store listing and inside the app before purchase. Pricing may vary by country, region, currency, taxes, Apple pricing tiers, promotions, and App Store settings.
All Premium subscription purchases are processed by Apple through Apple In-App Purchase. Sestra LLC does not directly process your payment card information.
Premium subscriptions automatically renew unless cancelled through Apple at least 24 hours before the end of the current billing period. Your Apple Account will be charged according to the subscription terms shown at purchase and managed by Apple.
You can manage, change, or cancel your subscription through your Apple Account subscription settings, including through iOS Settings or the App Store subscription management screen. If a free trial or introductory offer is available, the trial or offer will be shown before purchase. Unless you cancel before the trial or introductory period ends, the subscription will convert to a paid subscription according to Apple's terms and the offer shown at checkout.
Subscription prices may change. If a subscription price changes, Apple will provide notice and handle any required consent process according to Apple's standard subscription rules.
Refunds for Apple In-App Purchases are handled by Apple according to Apple's refund policies and procedures. Sestra LLC does not directly issue refunds for purchases made through Apple In-App Purchase.
You may request a refund through Apple's Report a Problem process or other Apple-supported refund channels. Deleting your Sestra account, deleting the app, disabling notifications, or not using the app does not automatically cancel your Apple subscription or trigger a refund.
Sestra may provide medication reminders, period reminders, cycle reminders, wellness reminders, and other notifications. Some notification features may require a Premium subscription. Notifications may depend on your device settings, operating system settings, app permissions, time zone, internet connectivity, battery settings, Apple notification services, and other technical factors outside Sestra LLC's control.
Medication reminders and health reminders are convenience tools only. They are not guaranteed to be timely, accurate, uninterrupted, or medically appropriate. You are solely responsible for following medication instructions from your licensed healthcare professional, pharmacist, prescription label, or medication guide.
Sestra may include an AI-powered health chat assistant. The AI chat feature may use third-party large language models, including OpenAI, Google Gemini, or other providers. AI responses are generated automatically. They may be inaccurate, incomplete, outdated, misleading, or inappropriate for your specific health situation.
AI chat responses are for general wellness and educational information only. They are not medical advice, diagnosis, treatment, therapy, emergency guidance, contraception guidance, fertility guidance, or personalized healthcare. You should not rely on AI chat responses for medical decisions. Always consult a licensed healthcare professional for personal medical questions. Sestra LLC does not warrant the accuracy, completeness, safety, reliability, or suitability of AI-generated responses.
Sestra may offer an optional feature that helps you search for nearby health practitioners or health-related resources. This feature may require access to your device location. You may enable or disable location permissions through your device settings.
Sestra does not endorse, verify, credential, employ, supervise, or control any practitioner, clinic, provider, or third-party resource shown through the app. Search results may be incomplete, outdated, unavailable, or inaccurate. You are responsible for evaluating whether any practitioner or resource is appropriate for you.
Your check-ins, cycle data, symptom logs, notes, medication entries, prevention tracking entries, profile information, and other user-generated content remain yours. You grant Sestra LLC a limited, non-exclusive, worldwide license to store, process, transmit, display, and use your user-generated content solely as needed to operate, maintain, secure, personalize, improve, and provide Sestra.
You may delete your account at any time through Profile > Settings > Delete Account. When you delete your account, personal data stored on Sestra servers will be permanently erased according to Sestra's deletion process, unless limited retention is required or permitted by law, security obligations, dispute resolution, fraud prevention, backup integrity, or legal compliance.
Account deletion is irreversible. Sestra LLC may not be able to recover your data after deletion. Deleting your account does not automatically cancel an Apple subscription. You must separately cancel any active subscription through Apple. Your use of Sestra is also governed by Sestra's Privacy Policy.
Sestra handles sensitive wellness and reproductive health information. Sestra LLC will collect, use, store, and disclose personal information as described in the Sestra Privacy Policy. You should use care when entering sensitive information into the app, including information about menstrual cycles, reproductive health, symptoms, medications, pregnancy, fertility, sexual health, mood, or personal notes.
Sestra is a consumer wellness application. Unless Sestra LLC expressly states otherwise in writing, Sestra is not a healthcare provider, health plan, healthcare clearinghouse, or business associate under HIPAA.
You agree not to use Sestra for any unlawful, harmful, fraudulent, abusive, or unauthorized purpose; harass, abuse, threaten, defame, exploit, or harm any person; impersonate another person or misrepresent your identity or account information; attempt to access another user's account or data; reverse-engineer, decompile, disassemble, copy, modify, or extract source code from Sestra except where permitted by law; use bots, scrapers, crawlers, automated tools, or unauthorized data extraction methods; interfere with or disrupt Sestra's security, servers, networks, systems, or app functionality; upload, submit, or transmit malicious code, malware, spam, or harmful content; use the AI chat feature to generate or distribute harmful, harassing, deceptive, medical misinformation, or unlawful content; or use Sestra in a way that violates Apple's App Store terms, third-party platform terms, or applicable law.
Sestra, including its app design, software, code, interface, icons, graphics, branding, logos, text, educational content, videos, visual identity, trademarks, service marks, and other materials, is owned by Sestra LLC or its licensors. The Sestra name, logo, and visual identity are trademarks or trade dress of Sestra LLC.
These Terms do not transfer ownership of any Sestra intellectual property to you. You receive only the limited right to use Sestra as permitted by these Terms. You may not copy, reproduce, modify, distribute, sell, lease, sublicense, publicly display, publicly perform, or create derivative works from Sestra content unless Sestra LLC gives written permission or the law allows it.
Subject to your compliance with these Terms, Sestra LLC grants you a limited, personal, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to download, install, and use Sestra on Apple-branded devices that you own or control, solely for your personal, non-commercial use, and only as permitted by Apple's App Store terms. You may not rent, lease, lend, sell, redistribute, sublicense, copy, modify, or misuse Sestra.
Sestra may rely on or integrate with third-party services, including Apple, Google, AI model providers, analytics providers, cloud hosting providers, notification services, payment infrastructure, and location or practitioner search services. Your use of third-party services may be governed by separate terms and privacy policies from those third parties. Sestra LLC is not responsible for third-party services, third-party content, third-party outages, third-party data practices, or third-party errors, except where required by law.
These Apple-specific terms apply to your use of Sestra on iOS. These Terms are between you and Sestra LLC, not Apple. Sestra LLC, not Apple, is solely responsible for Sestra and its content. Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support services for Sestra.
Sestra LLC is responsible for addressing claims related to Sestra, including product liability claims, legal or regulatory claims, consumer protection claims, privacy claims, and claims related to health-related app functionality. If Sestra fails to conform to any applicable warranty that cannot legally be disclaimed, you may notify Apple, and Apple may refund the purchase price, if any, according to Apple's applicable rules. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation for Sestra.
If a third party claims that Sestra or your use of Sestra infringes intellectual property rights, Sestra LLC, not Apple, is responsible for investigating, defending, settling, and resolving that claim. You represent and warrant that you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. government embargo or designated by the U.S. government as a terrorist-supporting country, and that you are not listed on any U.S. government list of prohibited or restricted parties. You must comply with applicable third-party terms when using Sestra. Apple and Apple's subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms. Upon your acceptance of these Terms, Apple has the right to enforce these Terms against you as a third-party beneficiary.
Sestra is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. Sestra LLC does not guarantee that the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, available at all times, or free from data loss. Sestra may be unavailable due to maintenance, updates, outages, device issues, operating system updates, App Store issues, internet connectivity, third-party service failures, security events, or circumstances beyond Sestra LLC's reasonable control. Sestra LLC may modify, suspend, restrict, or discontinue any part of Sestra at any time, with reasonable notice when appropriate.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Sestra LLC disclaims all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, availability, non-infringement, and reliability.
Sestra LLC does not warrant that Sestra will meet your expectations or health needs; cycle predictions, reminders, AI responses, or educational content will be accurate; Sestra will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free; data will always be available or recoverable; health-related content will be suitable for your personal circumstances; or third-party services will function properly. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain warranty disclaimers, so some disclaimers may not apply to you.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Sestra LLC and its owners, officers, employees, contractors, licensors, service providers, and affiliates will not be liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, special, exemplary, or punitive damages, including lost profits, lost data, loss of goodwill, device issues, service interruption, health-related decisions, or reliance on app content.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Sestra LLC's total liability for any claim related to Sestra or these Terms will not exceed the amount you paid to Sestra through Apple In-App Purchase during the 12 months before the claim arose.
Sestra LLC is not liable for health decisions made based on app content; reliance on AI-generated responses; inaccurate cycle, period, fertility, or phase predictions; missed, delayed, or incorrect reminders or notifications; data loss caused by device loss, device damage, operating system updates, app deletion, account deletion, user error, or third-party service issues; third-party provider information, practitioner search results, or third-party services; or unauthorized account access caused by your failure to protect your credentials. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot legally be limited.
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Sestra LLC and its owners, officers, employees, contractors, licensors, service providers, and affiliates from and against claims, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses, including reasonable attorneys' fees, arising from your use or misuse of Sestra; your violation of these Terms; your violation of law or third-party rights; content or information you submit to Sestra; or your misuse of AI chat or other app features. This obligation applies to the maximum extent permitted by law.
You may stop using Sestra at any time. You may delete your account through Profile > Settings > Delete Account. Sestra LLC may suspend, restrict, or terminate your account if Sestra LLC reasonably believes that you violated these Terms; your account information is false, misleading, or unauthorized; your use creates legal, security, privacy, technical, or operational risk; your use may harm Sestra, other users, third parties, or Sestra LLC; or suspension or termination is required by law, Apple, a court order, or another legal process. Termination of your Sestra account does not automatically cancel any active Apple subscription.
Sestra LLC may update these Terms from time to time. When changes are material, Sestra LLC will provide notice through the app, email, App Store release notes, or another reasonable method. The updated Terms will become effective on the date stated in the updated version, unless a later effective date is required by law. Your continued use of Sestra after updated Terms become effective means you accept the updated Terms. Material changes affecting subscription terms, data handling, or user rights will be communicated with reasonable advance notice when required or appropriate.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the State of Arizona, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. If any local consumer protection law gives you mandatory rights that cannot be waived, those rights are not limited by these Terms.
Please read this section carefully. It affects how disputes are resolved. You and Sestra LLC agree that any dispute, claim, or controversy arising out of or relating to Sestra, these Terms, your account, your subscription, your use of the app, or communications between you and Sestra LLC will be resolved by binding individual arbitration, rather than in court, except as described below.
The arbitration will be administered by AAA under its applicable consumer arbitration rules. The arbitration will take place in Maricopa County, Arizona, unless the arbitrator allows remote, written, or telephone proceedings. You and Sestra LLC each waive the right to a jury trial.
You and Sestra LLC agree to bring claims only in an individual capacity and not as a plaintiff, class member, or representative in any class action, collective action, private attorney general action, or representative proceeding. This arbitration agreement does not prevent either party from seeking relief in small claims court where permitted, seeking emergency injunctive relief, or reporting concerns to a government agency.
You may opt out of this arbitration agreement by sending written notice to info@sestrahealth.com within 30 days after you first accept these Terms. Your opt-out notice must include your name, account email address, and a clear statement that you want to opt out of arbitration. If any part of this arbitration section is found unenforceable, the remaining parts will remain effective to the maximum extent permitted by law.
Sestra is operated from the United States. You are responsible for complying with all laws that apply to your use of Sestra. You may not use Sestra if you are located in a country or region subject to applicable U.S. sanctions or embargoes, or if you are on a U.S. government restricted-party list.
You may not assign or transfer your rights or obligations under these Terms without Sestra LLC's prior written consent. Sestra LLC may assign or transfer these Terms, in whole or in part, in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, sale of assets, corporate transaction, or transfer of the Sestra business.
If any part of these Terms is found invalid, illegal, or unenforceable, the remaining parts will remain in effect. The invalid part will be interpreted or replaced in a way that best reflects the original intent while remaining legally enforceable.
If Sestra LLC does not enforce a provision of these Terms right away, that does not mean Sestra LLC waived the right to enforce it later.
These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy and any additional terms shown in the app, form the entire agreement between you and Sestra LLC regarding your use of Sestra. If there is a conflict between these Terms and additional terms shown for a specific feature, the additional terms will control for that specific feature.
