Getting Started
How do I set up Sestra?
Open the app and sign in with Apple, Google, or email. You will be guided through a short onboarding: pick your persona, enter your last period date and cycle details, and create your avatar. The whole thing takes about 3 minutes.
What is a persona?
Sestra has two voices: Classy (warm, calm, professional) and Sassy (direct, fun, no-nonsense). You pick one during onboarding and can switch any time from Profile > Your Sestra persona.
Period and Cycle Tracking
How do I log my period?
From the home screen, tap the calendar icon (View full). Tap any date to mark it as a period day. Sestra auto-fills your usual period length from that date. Tap Save when you are done.
How accurate are the predictions?
Predictions use your logged periods and a standard 14-day luteal assumption. They are estimates, not medical diagnoses, and become more accurate the more cycles you log.
Can I edit past period dates?
Yes. Open the full calendar, scroll back, and tap to add or remove days. Save when done. Your cycle averages update automatically.
My cycle is irregular. Does Sestra handle that?
Yes. Once you have 3 or more logged cycles, Sestra switches from your onboarding settings to your actual historical average. The calendar reflects whatever you log.
Account
I forgot my password.
On the sign-in screen, tap Forgot password. Enter your email and we will send a reset link.
I signed in with Google or Apple and now I cannot access my account.
Make sure you are using the same sign-in method you used originally. If you signed up with Google, always sign in with Google. Mixing methods creates a separate account.
My name or avatar disappeared after logging back in.
This can happen if the app loses connection mid-session. Force-close the app and reopen it. Your data is stored in your Sestra account and will restore automatically on the next login.
How do I delete my account?
Go to Profile > Delete account. This permanently removes all your Sestra data (cycle logs, check-ins, avatar, and medications) and cannot be undone.
Subscription
What is included in Sestra Basic (free)?
Period and cycle tracking, daily check-ins, phase predictions, Aya chat (5 conversations per day), Cycle Basics content, medication reminders, and 3 months of cycle history.
What is included in Sestra Premium?
Everything in Basic, plus: full cycle history, unlimited Aya conversations, the complete article and video library, advanced insights and pattern tracking, and enhanced meal and supplement guides.
How much does Premium cost?
$9.99 per month. The subscription renews automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
How do I cancel my subscription?
On iPhone: go to Profile > Subscription > Cancel membership. This takes you to your Apple subscription settings where you can cancel. You keep Premium access until the end of the paid period.
Alternatively: Settings app > Apple ID > Subscriptions > Sestra.
I paid but I am still on Basic.
Tap Profile > Subscription > Restore purchase. If the issue persists, email us at support@sestrahealth.com with your Apple ID email and we will look into it.
Can I get a refund?
Refunds are handled by Apple. Visit reportaproblem.apple.com and select the Sestra charge.
Notifications
How do I set up medication reminders?
Go to Home > your medications card, or Profile > Medications. Add a medication, set a schedule, and choose reminder times. Sestra will ask for notification permission the first time.
I stopped getting reminders.
Check that notifications are on for Sestra: iPhone Settings > Notifications > Sestra. Also check that the medication is still marked as active in Profile > Medications.
Privacy
Is my health data private?
Your check-ins, cycle logs, and avatar are stored on your device and in your Sestra account. We never sell personal health data. See our full policy at sestrahealth.com/privacy.html.
Does Sestra share data with third parties?
Only with service providers under contract (cloud infrastructure, analytics). Never for advertising. Full details are in our Privacy Policy.
Can I export my data?
Data export is coming in a future update. To delete all your data now, use Profile > Delete account.
